A company that begins with the tree.

Coconut was founded in 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the simple idea that modern life had been carved into too many small, unrelated apps. One for watching, one for shopping, one for talking, one for paying, one for getting somewhere. Each demanding its own login, its own loyalty, its own attention.
We started under a single tree on the windward side of O‘ahu, with a pitch on the back of a paper menu: a single identity that travels with you across everything you do — entertainment, commerce, travel, dining, and connectivity — built around the calm, generous spirit of the islands.
The name was already there. The coconut is one of the most complete things in nature: it nourishes, it shelters, it travels across oceans on its own currents, and it gives without asking. That felt like the right standard for a company.
From a small studio above a surf shop in Kaka‘ako, we shipped our first product — Coconut TV — in late 2024. Within a year we had launched Shop, Travel, Restaurant, Wireless, Marketplace, and Social, all under one account, one subscription, one quiet idea: that your time and your data belong to you.
Today, Coconut is headquartered in Honolulu with teams in San Francisco, Tokyo, and Lisbon. We remain independent, founder-led, and stubbornly interested in doing fewer things better.
