Rising British star Olivia Dean claims the Official Chart double as The Art of Loving and Man I Need land at Number 1 – Music News

She is the moment! Rising British talent Olivia Dean secures her first Number 1 in style by doing the Official Chart double, earning the UK’s Official Number 1 album with The Art of Loving and Number 1 single with Man I Need.

Olivia becomes the first British solo female artist to claim the UK’s Number 1 album and single simultaneously since Adele in 2021, when she achieved it with 30 and Easy On Me. (Ellie Goulding also managed a chart double in 2023, but with the support of collaborator Calvin Harris).

Olivia has also achieved the biggest opening week for a British female artist since Adele, again in 2021. The Walthamstow singer secured an outstanding 53,000 chart units over the past seven days, making The Art of Loving the fifth biggest opening week of the year behind Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter and Sam Fender.

Over on the Official Singles Chart, Man I Need has finally wrestled the Number 1 position from HUNTR/X’s Golden after its lengthy eight-week residency in the top spot.

As well as the small matter of the Official Chart Double, Olivia also sees Nice to Each Other (4) and So Easy (To Fall In Love) (9) bless the Top 10 this week.

She also tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, selling the most copies on wax this week as well as securing Number 1 on the Official Record Store Chart; the biggest album in independent UK record stores in the past seven days.

Congratulating Olivia on the feat, Martin Talbot, Chief Executive Officer, Official Charts, says:

“Achieving a rare Official Number 1 chart double has truly propelled Olivia Dean onto the top table of British talent this week. Her success this week with her second album The Art Of Loving is fantastic news for the East London singer and for British music more widely.”

“It is particularly timely coming at the start of the month when we will be celebrating British talent at the Mercury Prize in just a few days. What are the odds on another shortlist placing for her next autumn, as her debut Messy was in 2023?”

Elsewhere, Sabrina Carpenter finds Man’s Best Friend at Number 2, her third week in a row in the runner-up position.

Huge congratulations go to Perrie, as her self-titled debut album secures the Little Mix star a first Top 5 solo record (3).

Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Perrie says:

“I can’t believe the support that I’ve received for this album, it’s been overwhelming. It took such a long time to get to this point, and with such a short rollout I honestly didn’t have any expectations. I said before I would be happy if 10 people loved it or 100, so to get to Number 3 has actually blown my mind.

“This is all down to fan love, they’ve really rallied together and got behind me. I’m forever grateful!”

Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant secures his highest charting album since 2017’s Carry Fire, bagging himself an eighth Top 5 record with Saving Grace (4).
C’est la Vie! Doja Cat grabs her third Top 5 hit as Vie (5) equals the success of her last album, 2023’s Scarlet.

Will Oasis fever ever cease? Off the back of their final UK Live ‘25 shows, Time Flies… 1994-2009 jumps four places this week (6). And we’re not done there. (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? also leaps four (11), while Definitely Maybe explodes back in the Top 20, catapulting eight places (15).

Fleetwood Mac also see a resurgence into the Top 10, as 50 Years – Don’t Stop (10), while Rumours creeps back into the Top 20 again after Official Charts announced it as one of the biggest albums of 2025, a testament to the record’s timeless sound (19).

It’s clearly a week for the greats! Swedish giants ABBA see ABBA Gold – Greatest Hits leap nine places into the Top 20 after celebrating its 33rd anniversary last week (20).
As TIT FOR TAT tops the Official Trending Chart, Tate McRae’s latest LP So Close To What picks up heat, rocketing 16 places up the chart (22).

A big shout out goes to Brooklyn-born outfit Geese, who secure their first-ever Albums Chart entry with Getting Killed (26).

After announcing the news that Billie Eilish will be extending her HIT ME HARD AND SOFT tour, its namesake album is on the ascent, moving up nine this week (28).
Mariah Carey secures a milestone 20th Top 40 this week with her latest release Here For It All (31).

Little Monsters unite! With her Mayhem Ball in full swing, Lady Gaga secures the highest climbing record of the week with MAYHEM, which scales a jaw-dropping 24 places (32).

50 years on from its release, Genesis’s The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway celebrates its anniversary with Top 40 status (35).

Finally, pop queen Zara Larsson sees Midnight Sun gain her a fourth Top 40 record (36).

Sabrina Carpenter finds three of her tracks make the Top 20: Tears (10), When Did You Get Hot? (11) and House Tour (17).

As Vie earns Doja Cat a Top 5 album, lead single Jealous Type finds its way into the Top 40 fray, moving up 14 places this week (30). The star also secures a new entry with Gorgeous (34), capping off a great opening week.

Luton-born singer Myles Smith replicates the success of his previous single Gold, as his latest track Stay (If You Wanna Dance) makes the Top 40 (32).
