Irish band Kodaline have announced they are to split up.
In a video posted to social media, the band members said they would be recording their “fifth and final album as Kodaline”, having decided to stop working together as a group.
“After over a decade together, we’ve made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Kodaline,” they shared. “It might come as a surprise, and it’s definitely bittersweet for us too. What we’ve shared has changed our lives forever.
“From busking on the streets of Dublin to playing shows across the world, it really has been the stuff that dreams are made of. We want it to end on a high, so before we say goodbye, we’re heading into the studio one last time to record our fifth and final album as Kodaline.
“We are, and always will be, forever grateful for your love and support. It’s been a journey that we’ll never forget, and we hope that the music stays with you long after we’re gone.”
Kodaline’s members – Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast, Vincent May and Jason Boland – first got together in Dublin in 2005 when they started to perform under the name 21 Demands.
Their debut single, Give Me a Minute, was released in 2007 and reached number one on the Irish charts.
They changed their name in 2012 and have since released four albums, the most recent of which was One Day at a Time.
