Biffy Clyro secures fourth UK Number 1 album with Futique – Music News


Biffy Clyro have struck the right chord once again, the Scottish heavyweights securing their fourth Official Number 1 Album with Futique (1).

Speaking on this incredible accolade, the band, made up of Simon Neil, James Johnston and Ben Johnston, say:

“Four Official UK Number 1 albums – a Futique moment in real time. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and listened to the album. We appreciate it!”

The lads also top the Official Record Store Chart and the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, the biggest album of the past seven days in independent UK record shops, also shifting the most copies on wax this week.

Carrying a spirit bold and true, Biffy are proudly flying the Saltire over the UK charts this week.

The force of Biffy Clyro proves too much for Sabrina Carpenter, as Man’s Best Friend finishes in the runner-up spot this week (2).

Taking the bronze is Lola Young, with her unfiltered album I’m Only F**king Myself (3). It becomes the breakout Brit’s highest-charting album to date, surpassing This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway (16).

A huge congratulations goes to The Divine Comedy, who secure their highest-charting album in 26 years, since A Secret History… the Best of the Divine Comedy, with Rainy Sunday Afternoon (4).

Lead singer Neil Hannon accepted the band’s Official Top 10 Award from Official Charts, saying: “I’m hyperventilating! The Divine Comedy have another Official Top 10 album! It’s extremely gratifying, it never gets any less exciting.”

The Northern Irish outfit clinch their sixth Top 10 in the process, and top the Official Independent Albums Chart, marking an incredible week for the group.

Lost, but now found! Buckingham Nicks’ self-titled album has secured the Fleetwood Mac duo of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks a Top 10 over 50 years since its original release (6).

US rock stalwarts Nine Inch Nails are back in the Top 20, providing the soundtrack for Tron: Ares (12). This makes it the highest-charting soundtrack in the Tron series.

Joy Crookes finds her honest and eclectic album Juniper obtain another Top 20 success (13). Recruiting the likes of Kano and Vince Staples, it’s some of her most experimental work yet.

Following his sold-out shows at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week, Post Malone’s The Diamond Collection hops 11 places (19).

Kudos to Sammy Virji, whose record Same Day Cleaning earns the British DJ his first charting album (21).

Cardi B’s second studio album makes it presence known this week, as AM I THE DRAMA? Gives the American rapper another Top 40 (26).

And it’s a sixth Top 40 record for Newton Faulkner with his newest release Octopus (27).

Lady Gaga’s debut The Fame is back in the Top 40, with her sold-out UK tour The Mayhem Ball on the horizon. This jumps a strong 14 places this week (36).

And finally, as he tours the UK before travelling down under, and following the release of his new single Something In The Heavens, Lewis Capaldi’s Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent returns to the Top 40, climbing six (40).
