Céline Dion has transformed into the Grinch for a fun holiday video.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the music superstar posted a one-minute-long clip showing her wearing a full costume, green facial prosthetics, and red contact lenses to resemble the Dr. Seuss character, famously played by Jim Carey in the 2000 comedy film, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
To begin, Dion is seen sitting in a chair with a small dog on her lap and a fireplace in front of her.
She then begins to sing the chorus of her 1996 hit, All by Myself, before breaking into a rant about the joyful residents of Whoville.
“The nerve of those Whos. Inviting me on such short notice. Even if I wanted to go, my schedule wouldn’t allow it,” she sighs. “Four o’clock, exercise my voice. 4:30, wake my children up. 5 o’clock, solve world hunger: tell no one. 5:30, jazzercize. 6:30, dinner with me, I can’t cancel that again! 7 o’clock, wrestle with my creative ideas. I’m booked!”
Maintaining the Grinch’s grumpy persona, Dion joked about staying in bed all day.
“Of course, if I bumped my creative ideas to nine, I’ll still have time to lay in bed and scroll TikTok videos endlessly. Or I can just simply wish everyone Merry Christmas and Happy New Year… boring!” the 57-year-old adds.
To close the video, Dion sang the lyrics, “When I was young, I never needed anyone…”
Without adding any further details about her decision to dress up as the green creature, the My Heart Will Go On singer captioned the post: “Silent night? Not on my watch…”
Dion has made very few public appearances since announcing she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a neurological disorder, in December 2022.
However, she made a triumphant return to the spotlight when she offered up a rendition of Hymne à l’amour from the Eiffel Tower to conclude the opening ceremony for the 2024 Summer Olympics – marking her first public performance in four years.
