As a whole, progressive metal has only gotten more popular over the past 40 years. Yet, progressive metalcore – like metalcore overall – continues to be disparaged by certain gatekeepers for several reasons (including its connection to emo music and what some see as cringy overproduction).

As Loudwire recently discussed in our list of the 11 best progressive metalcore bands of all time, though, there are plenty of prestigious acts proving that subgenre can be just as likeable and laudable as any other form of progressive metal.

That breakdown led us – and hopefully you – to ask: “How many of those bands also made the best progressive metalcore albums of all time, though?” After all, just because a group’s cumulative work is exceptional doesn’t mean that they have a particular record that represents the peak of the style.

In this case, however, several of them do. So, you’ll see an almost even mix between artists who appeared on that other list and artists who didn’t make the cut despite putting out at least one absolute classic collection.
