3 Rock + Metal Songs Played During Super Bowl Player Intros

Three huge rock and metal songs played during the Super Bowl player intros during the game tonight (Feb. 8).

The Super Bowl LX, taking place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., sees the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots. During the Seahawks player intros, Alice In Chains‘ mega hit “Man in the Box” played and Aerosmith‘s “Sweet Emotion” played during the Patriots intros.

There was also a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne — “Crazy Train” played as the Patriots ran onto the field.

What Are the Bands’ Connections to the NFL?

Alice In Chains formed in Seattle in 1987 and are one of the most successful rock groups to come out of the city. The band members are longtime supporters of the team and have performed at games in the past. Most recently, Jerry Cantrell was invited to play the National Anthem before kickoff at a game in 2023.

Aerosmith are from Boston, making them one of the biggest bands to emerge from the New England area of the U.S. The legendary rockers reworked a version of their song “Legendary Child” from the album Music From Another Dimension! back in 2012 as part of the Pepsi NFL Anthems program and titled it “Legendary Child – Patriots Anthem” [via Boston.com].

The band more famously headlined the Super Bowl Halftime show in 2001 during the Super Bowl XXXV with NSYNC.

Although Osbourne has been honored at tons of massive pop culture events since his death in July of 2025, the Patriots had a particularly close connection to him. The team used “Crazy Train” as their entrance music at Boston’s Gillette Stadium for more than 20 years.

The Prince of Darkness also performed at the stadium in 2005 before the team’s season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.

“The New England Patriots are saddened to learn of the passing of music legend Ozzy Osbourne, who provided the iconic intro for Patriots games for over 20 years. Condolences to his family and all who mourn his loss,” the Patriots shared in an official statement after the musician died.
