Max B Returns With First Post-Prison Song, Announces New Album

Max B is right back at it with a brand new single and album announcement following his long-awaited release from prison.

On Monday (November 24), the Harlem rap legend made his official return to music with “No More Tricks,” a new song produced by veteran hitmaker Dame Grease (DMX “Get At Me Dog,” The LOX “If You Think I’m Jiggy”).

Over a funky yet gritty beat that feels like a throwback to that classic New York hip-hop sound, Biggaveli proves he hasn’t lost a step on the mic while namedropping some of his rap heroes.

“MC Ren, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, feed the beast / Swizz my n*gga, Alicia Keys / That’s word to ‘Pac, oh a million and one, milli three degrees / N*gga, we believe, Beretta millimeter / Clip hold 17 / Get high off that Ketamine,” he spits in a laidback cadence.

“No More Tricks” is the first offering from Max’s upcoming comeback album, Public Domain 7: The First Purge (Patient Zero), which drops this Friday (November 28).

The project will serve as his first full-length effort in four years following Negro Spirituals, which was recorded and released while he was behind bars.

Max B (real name Charley Wingate) was freed on November 9 after spending 16 years behind bars for his alleged role in a botched robbery.

The 47-year-old was welcomed home by friends and family, including longtime collaborator French Montana who was filmed embracing Max outside the prison.

“CANT MAKE THIS UP ! MY BROTHER REALLY CAME HOME ON MY B DAY ! HAMDULILLAH,” the Coke Boys capo wrote alongside the heartwarming clip on Instagram. “WALKED IT DOWN ! NO MORE FREE YOU [wave emojis].”

The pair were also spotted in the studio together later that night, with French teasing a third installment in their cult classic Coke Wave mixtape series.
