A bomb squad investigates a suspicious package outside the courthouse where jurors sided with Megan Thee Stallion on her defamation trial.
On Monday, Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation trial against blogger Milagro Gramz finally came to an end, with jurors ruling in the rapper’s favor. But before it did, a bomb squad was called to investigate a suspicious package outside the courthouse in downtown Miami.
Police shut down several streets as a precaution while the bomb squad investigated a small package on the sidewalk beside a tree. Authorities ultimately deemed the situation safe and reopened the nearby streets, allowing proceedings at the courthouse to continue.
Back to Meg’s trial, the jury sided with her and found that blogger Milagro Gramz was liable for defamation. The jury awarded the rapper $75,000 in damages in the case in which Megan sued Gramz with allegations of deliberately spreading falsehoods and a deepfake pornographic video of her in the wake of Tory Lanez’s incarceration. Fellow rapper Lanez is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of shooting Megan in the foot in 2020.
“I felt like nobody cared that I was shot,” Meg testified during the proceedings. “I know everyone was making jokes about it. There was a time that I genuinely didn’t care if I lived or died. I felt like no way I mattered.”
Milagro Gramz was accused of serving as a mouthpiece for Lanez in the wake of his incarceration, deliberately spreading false and defamatory information about Megan Thee Stallion and the shooting.
She previously argued that she’s already $10,000 in debt and has to “worry about how to feed my kids” amid the controversy surrounding the case. Now, she owes Meg $75,000 in damages and must cover her legal fees—which are expected to top $1 million.
Both women testified multiple times throughout the trial.
